Tips for your layouts

• As you build your layout, try to create standardized naming conventions that will help you stay organized as your light shows grow year-to-year
  • For example, I start all of my spinners with “Spinner-NameOfSpinner” — it makes it much easier to find things when you have dozens of props/models in your layout
  • You can do the same with Trees, Stars, Ornaments, Singing Props, etc – whatever makes logical sense to you
• Try to include a matrix prop early on in your shows — you can use this to display cool effects, and/or messages like what radio station to tune to
• Each season, clean up unused or outdated groups — I know mine seem to build up, and need to be purged occasionally
• Conversely, be sure to add new props to the appropriate groups right away so you don’t forget
